Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

My daughter had physical custody of her son and they had a very good relationship until he was about 13 and his father told him to say he wanted to live with him. The father is very controlling and abusive but the courts would not look at this. Now the father is alienating him from my daughter and her family. She has gone to mediation several times and he was also told to got to counseling which did not help cuse the father didnt think he needed it. Her son is now 16 and he should she her for dinner twice a month and text her several times a week. Texting is not regular and when it is who knows who is sending it. He wont talk to her at dinner. Mediaion said this was to be a start to get things back. Should she go back to mediation or just give up on her son. I dont understand why the courts dont recognize this abuse.

there are two sides to the argument when evaluating what is best for a child. When a child reaches a certain age the courts are more inclined to give more weight to the child's views. If your daughter feels that things are not happening in the best interest of her child then by all means use the mediation service. i would never say give up on her son.
