Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Going through a divorce. My soon to be ex-wife is telling me that I owe her money towards our past bills (ie electric, cable, etc). I asked her to remove me from her health insurance policy and she says she can't and that I owe her that money as well. I talked to her benefits department and they told me the bi-weekly deduction from her paycheck is a lot less (almost half) then what she is telling me. I also just signed a form that removes me from the responsibility of the apartment we shared. This also relinquishes my right to the money we put down (1st, last, security, pet deposit, etc.) My question is: She states I owe her $800 +, I come up with $170. Since I signed over the apartment and the huge security deposit, I shouldn't have to pay her anything. I feel I shouldn't allow her to make me pay anything without the court ruling what I should pay. Is this correct?
