I do not understand what you are talking about. Notaries witness signatures. They do not grant divorces. You would not be asking if you had a lawyer. My advice would be to get an attorney. Divorce itself is not all that expensive. If you must do this by yourself, understand that you sign a document in front of a notary. The notary then signs and puts his or her seal on the document, thus making it notarized. You and your wife have to each do this separately.

I do not know what papers you have, but the divorce complaint is filed with the court and served on the other spouse. If everyone consents, then you file affidavits of consent after 90 days. The matter is then given to the judge (you must schedule a hearing time) for the judge to sign.

That above answer is pretty accurate.

If you file and the grounds are either consent or 2 years separation once either the consents or affidavits of separation are filed, a praecipe is filed to get the divorce in front of a judge. There is no trial. The filings are reviewed by the judge and the divorce is granted.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
