Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Divorce and Pre-Martital Property/Expenses

My wife purchased a home just as we began dating. I moved in a few months later, and we were married a short while after that. She was in nursing school during this time (having just finished in May). The home and mortgage have always remained in her name though I have paid all mortgage payments, condo fees, etc during this time. With the exception of her car payment and two utilities, she did not have to pay for anything. She also only had to work 12 hours per week to cover her expenses. The verbal agreement had always been that when she was done with nursing school; it would be my turn to go back to school and have the same arrangements. However, now that I have reduced my work hours significantly she has decided she wants to separate/divorce.

Understanding that the house was pre-marital property - do I have any claim to it since I paid the mortgage without assistance? Am I entitled to spousal support so that I can continue to attend school?

Depending on the grounds your wife raises for the divorce you might not even get spousal support. By the way spousal support only lasts till the divorce decree is final. Past that your would need to get alimony not an easy thing to get in Pennsylvania.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
