Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
divorce settlement
I'd like to file for divorce. The only asset we have is our home. My husband wants to stay here. He does not have $ to give me half of it's worth without selling. What happens in this situation?

Re: divorce settlement
Depends on what you and your husband can agree to.
One option is the house can be sold and the net proceeds divided based on an Equitable Distribution percentage. Another option is that he promises to pay you your share plus interest by a given date with the note secured by a second mortgage.
There are other options as well but those are the first 2 that come to mind. If both of you want to work something out you can.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
