my ex wants to drop his rights on my child. do i have to find someone to take his place or can it just be me?

He can't. That would make your child an orphan. That is if a child doesn't have 2 parents is an orphan. So for him to terminate his rights the child would have to be adopted. Which would terminate YOUR parental rights. The exception is if the man adopting you child is your husband. Then if he adopts the child you would as the second parent.
And no you can NOT agree to reduce the child support to zero. such an agreement is against public policy.
