Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Engagement ring and house

Last year, I proposed and was to be married. During that time, we purchased a home together and are both on the morgage. I broke off the wedding because I caught her cheating with another guy.

I have asked for the ring back which is about $10,000 and I cannot sell. Regarding the home, I would like to keep it and currently in the process of refiancing the home. My ex-fiance believes she is going to get half of the appraised value of the home. I do not want to be out $10,000 for a ring plus put myself in this financial burden of giving her an appraised value of a home which may not sell for? I mean she cheated on me and I lose the worth of the ring ($10,000) and pay her this perceived value of the home. PLEASE HELP... she broke me once and is going to break me again.

I would suggest you speak with an attorney regarding the home issue. As to the ring issue I believe current case law would support your position to either have the ring returned or be compensated. However all cases are different and again I advise you to contact an attorney to discuss the facts unique to your case.
