Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

engagement rings

My fiance and I called it quits after almost three years of being engaged. I asked for the engagement ring back and she said that she wants to keep it. I was wondering who is entitled to have the ring?

She lives in California and Im from Pennsylvania but am in the Marine Corps and over seas at the moment. I asked her to marry me in California and I would like the ring back.

Re: engagement rings

In Pennsylvania you would be entitled to get the ring back; but I don't think a Pennsylvania court would be the proper venue. You probably kept PA as your domicile state; but you got engaged in California and you ex lives in California. You could try to short arm it here in PA. If the ring is worth less than 25K service would be by certified mail. If she did not defend you could get a judgment and try to enforce it in CA. If she got a lawyer though you'd be bounced. However if the ring is not that expensive she may return it once she got the papers. Otherwise you'd have to proceed in CA and I do not know their law on this subject.
