Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
What am I entitled to after only 6 months of marriage?
My husband and I have been married for 6 months. We are both well in to our 40's. No children. He owns his house...and I own my house along with my sister. My sister is married and she and her husband bought their own house...howevere, if my house is ever to be sold, we split it two ways. Occasionally if we we argue...he says,''there's the door if your not happy.'' I am in the process of selling my house, but I'm not sure if that's smart. I do not want to be out on the street, God forbid, if we ever do divorce. I moved into his house when we married. My name is on nothing. I just don't know what to do to protect myself?

Look at it the other way, how much should you be entitled to after six months of marriage?
The law recognizes that one party in a marriage often has greater power in a relationship. And while there is no bright line, usually the distribution of property is divided along the lines of equitable contribution rather than split until the marriage has lasted about 10 years. In other words, you'll probably take out only what you brought into the marriage.
My totally non-legal suggestion would be to get yourself and you husband to a marriage counselor. It doesn't seem like you should have such concerns on 6 months into a marriage.
