Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Father have any responsibility

My ex broke up with me when I became pregnant. He said he did not want the baby. He know says he does want visitation when the baby is born.

In any case i am having pregnancy complications and put on bed rest. I am using a lap top to try to have communications with people since I live completely alone.

I am not allowed to work. Is there any way I can get the father of the child to help even though the baby is not born. I can get assistance of $200 a month from the state due to the circumstances.

But as you can imagine that is not nearly enough for my rent, heating, and other utilities. Or any other expenses that are essential. Obviously since i have nowhere to turn I need to be able to keep a roof over my head and some heat in my apartment during my pregnancy.

I don't care about my own well being but I have the baby who I am so worried about. Does the father have any responsibility or can he let all the stress and burden on me and then just ''appear'' after the baby is born?

Re: Father have any responsibility

There is no child support obligation until after the child is born. Unfortunately, there is nothing in the law to require him to contribute at this point. As soon as the child is born, I would arrange to have a complaint filed with the court to start his obligation.
