Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

What is the "formula" for calculating child support? My husband and I have been separated for 3 years. We both have homes. He has provided for food, electricity, cable, school tuition for one of our four children. Now he says he has no money. He makes about $70,000 a year (or more that was last time I knew). I need him to understand that he is supposed to provide for his three children (the fourth is over 21). Thanks for your help.

There are support guidelines available in Pennsylvania that give a general indication of the amount of support to be paid for for three children. This is based upon the income of your husband and your own income. certain deduction are allowed to reach net monthly income of each of you. this is combined based on the percentage of income each of you has in relation to the entire combined income provides the percentage of income based on what the guideline provide for three children. Of course you do not indicate your income. Id combined income reaches a certain level there is a more complex method for deermining support. Every situation may have factors that may cause a deviation from these calculations and certain adjustments may be made for health care premiums paid by one party for the hildren or for certain other expenses. If you consult with an attorney you may have a better idea of the appropriate amount. If you would like to schedule an appointment with my office then call or e-mail me.
