An interested person may file a petition in the Court of Common Pleas for the appointment of a guardian for a person. The Court must determine, after a hearing, that the person is "incapacitated" in order to award a guardianship to another. If your granddaughters are not "incapacitated," you may have meant to ask how you can obtain custody of them. Please feel free to call or e-mail me directly to speak more fully about this matter. Thanks.
