Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Third grader w/2nd grade reading level prescribed Concerta to improve reading sk

The custody agreement is thru the courts in Pennsylvania. It states in our custody agreement the minor child shall be in the joint legal custody of the hereto. The child shall be in primary physical custody with the mother, subject to father's rights of partial physical custody as set out herein.(then explains the schedule for my visitation times)My son has been having difficulty with his reading skills the last couple of years. He excells in all other acedemic areas except for his reading. My ex-wife informed me the school was going to evaluate him in all areas of academics.Even though the results came back that he is above average in all areas except for reading - he is now on the medication ''Concerta'' for A.D.H.D or A.D.D?!I am confused that a medication can be prescribed for a disorder that would only affect his reading skills. This pill is going to make him read better?!My ex-wife did not inform me that my son has been on this medication until a month later.I feel I should have a right to be involved in such a major decision such as this but was not.I am frustrated and concerned for my son and want to know what I can do.I am strongely against my son taking this medication and would greatly appreciate your input.

Generally, parents have shared legal custody. That means that each party shares equally in major decisions involving the child's life. Examples are school, religion and medical treatment.

You have the right to file an Emergency Petition for Special Relief to seek an Order preventing the medicine.
