Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Grandparent Custodial Rights

My son and his wife have been seperated for a year. During this time I have taken care of my two grandchildren. Not full time with the older one, but full time with the 4 year old. Now the mother has lost her job, had another baby with the man she lives with. She has taken the children back to her house and refuses to let me see them. I would love any information about grandparents rights on this issue. I recently took the 4 year old to the dr for sinus problems. I have taken her to every dr visit but 2 since birth, the dr gave me medicine for her but her mother threw it away. I called Children's Services and they did an investigation. Nothing came of it since the dr said it wasnt a medical necessity for the child to have it. It was an antibiotic for sinusitis and sinus infection. I already had permission from the father to take the child to dr appointments but when I called the dr to see why he would say such a thing he refused to talk to me. I am very concerned for my grandchild and would like to see if she is still sick. What are my rights? Who do I turn to next? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Grandparents can sue for visitation and custody. Your description suggests that you may have a good case for custody. You should talk to a lawyer as this involves more than going to court and proving how good you are for the children. Ioffer free consultations.

Grandparents do have partial custody and visitation rights with respect to their grandchildren, based upon their past involvement with the children. I would not hesitate in filing a petition with the court, protecting your rights, before too much time goes by. I have several convenient office locations. Please contact me if you wish t further discuss.
