Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Hello,
I want to divorce my husband. He is, and always has been extremely verbally abusive. He can't hold a job for more than a few weeks, and is a pathological liar. We have no children together. Is it true that if I can get him to sign a Marital Separation Agreement and we have it notarized that he won't be able to contest a divorce when I file? I am the primary breadwinner and can't afford to pay all kinds of attorney fees. Also, he was married and divorced before and had an attorney through Legal Aid for that, does that mean I can't get help from Legal Aid now because of a conflict of interest? Thank you for helping!

Not that I'm aware of. There is no such thing as a legal separation in Pennsylvania. I don't why people put much stock in notarizations. All a notary does is make sure whoever signed is who they claim they are.
What you have to worry about is will he try for spousal support prior to the entry of the divorce or alimony after the divorce. A decent lawyer can reduce your risk of this.
