Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Hello,
My girlfriend (gf) has a five year old girl. When my gf was pregnant the father committed suicide. I started dating my gf when her daughter was three in '08 and since then, I've seen the father's parents very little. The father's mother more so than the father. In October of last year, the father's mother took my gf to court to have partial custody of my gf's daughter. She gets to see my gf's daughter every other Thursday for two hours and one weekend a month for eight hours a day. The father's mother is diagnosed with bipolar disorder and the father's father seems to not care at all about the five year old, in fact I rarely see him pick up my gf's daughter for visitations. The father's parents have mentioned his name and have shown his picture to the young girl without consent of my gf, which I think is ridiculous at her age. How do we get their time reduced?

You get the time reduced by filing a petition to modify. The court will determine if there should be a reduction based upon what is in the child's best interest. I agree that the issue of her natural father needs to be handled delicately. Please feel free to contact my office to discuss this further.
