Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Hi my name is Jason, my mother took me and my fiance to court last friday regarding visitation to see our son. The judge denied visitation for the time being and said he would review their petition and get back to us with his decision. We recieved a notice in the mail to appear for a custody conference. Does this mean the judge is rulling in her favor or is this a normal thing? What will happen at this conferece and do we need an attorney? Any aditional info will help out. Thank you.

A custody conference is a method before holding a hearing to try to resolve custody issues. If the parties can agree then the custody master will draft an order that reduces the agreement to a court order that a judge will sign. If the parties can NOT agree then there will be a hearing to determine custody issues based on the best interests of the child standard.

As to whether you need an attorney? That depends if your mother has an attorney you'd be well advised to have one as well.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
