How can a father go about getting joint custody of a child....I have not been able to see or talk to my daughter in over 18 months and i have tried to talk reasonably with her mother..to no avail....Can this be done without an attorney?

To obtain joint custody you need to petition the court. It is best to have an attorney otherwise when you go for a custody meeting and the other party has an attorney arguing facts, you might not be able to prove your interests.
