Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
We went to see a lawyer about a court-odered paternity test to determine if my son was the father of his ex-girlfriend's baby. She would not have a paternity test done. We saw the lawyer for about an hour. Afterwards, we decided we could not afford this lawyer, so we did not sign the agreement form or send in a retainer fee. We saw the lawyer in September of this year. Now, in November, we have received a bill of $1198.97 for professional services rendered. On the form, it even says that she didn't put any hours into my son's case.
Is this legal and do we have to pay this fee? Thank you, Stephanie Bower

You need to contact the local bar association they should have a fee arbitration committee. It will be that group not the disciplinary board that handles the issue.
