Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
lawyer problems
I am having a considerable amount of issues with my attorney. He filed the custody petition with the courts back in April, and nothing has happened since. I would love to find another attorney, however I have used up all the money I had on him. Can you provide me with any suggestions or other resources that may be available. I am a single mother with 3 kids to take care and am getting child support for only 1 of them.

Re: lawyer problems
You asked about getting legal assistance where you feel your attorney is being ineffectual.
My first suggestion is that you go to that attorney and get him or her to make progress. Often there can be a reluctance on the attorney's part to speak with a client when there has been no progress. Sometimes other matters are pressing. Those aren't proper excuses but they are reasons why you may not be hearing the results you desire.
As to getting new counsel, there are few private attorneys that accept pro bono clients outright. Many do take referrals from other sources though. Contact your local bar association for possible referrals. You should also speak with the legal clinics at area law schools. they aften have resources available or can direct you to better local resources. Don't forget Widener University School of Law in Delaware if you are in SouthEastern PA. It has a significant legal clinic and does a lot of work on women's and family issues. Also check your local women's services resources.
Good luck,
