leagal guardianship

my daughter is living in pennsylvania with her uncle.he has requested me to give him leagal guardianship of my daughter.my daughter is 30yrs and she is slow about like a 12 year old.the uncle says she is a ward of the state.the uncle says the state of Pa can take he and put her in a state hospital,is this true. he is pressuring me constantly to sign papers for guardianship. if I do this can i take back guardianship of her.with out a legal battle with him afterward.he is on me all the time,i smell smoething but cant pin point it.what are my legal rights if i do this.i feel like if i do he may not let me call her or write her, and taake complete control. I thank you for any information you can give me

Why is your daughter a ward of the state?

Its always possible to get back guardianship but it would be hard to do especially being out of state.

Unless your daughter is severely mentally ill the state will not commit her to a state hospital especially given that the state is closing state hospitals. Now there are facilities for the mentally handicapped that she may qualify for if she wants that sort of environment.

I think you're right there more going on here than her uncle is telling.
