Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Leaving home
My mother doesn't want me to live with her anymore and she wants it to be legal. I am 16 and have a 7 month old baby. I would like to go live with the babys grandfather. How do I go about this legally and if I would live with him what would be different if I lived on my own?

Re: Leaving home
You asked about living apart from you mother.
By law your mother is responsible for your health and welfare until you are 18 years old. There is no way to do this legally without emancipating the child under the law.
Emancipation is very difficult to do in the best of circumstances. The court must be assured that the mother has the means to support herself, and in this case your child also. Even if your mother puts you out of the house she would still be liable for your health and welfare (both civilly and criminally).
In other words, this isn't a road you should choose unless you have the money to support yourself. Go to the local social service office and get a social worker that you feel comfortable with. S/he can help you identify and employ the resources you will need.
