Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Does he have legal claim?

I am married 18 mos. My husband has walked out on me and I want to know what I am responsible for as far as credit cards. I own my home his name is not on the title. I have credit cards in my name from before we were married but we have incurred quite alot of debt together since we were married the credit card paid for the honeymoon, wedding, rings etc.His name is not on any of the credit cards.I also have a car from before the marriage and I have a car that was transferred to me after my mothers death while we were married. He has told me since nothing is in his name he is not responsible for any of it, But that he is entitled to half the house and to take 1 car. I do not feel this is legal. How do I protect myself? Any information is gladly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Does he have legal claim?

Property acquired before the marriage is owned the party who had it then. He may be entitled to some portion of the increas in value in the property as it can be seen as imputed income. An attorney needs to review the entire situation and determine all your rights and potential liabilities. I offer free consultations.
