Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Legal Guardianship of child

Due to my neurological condition, I wish to grant my parents guardianship of my child. Is this a long, involved and expensive process? DO we go to a court hearing? And the father is not and has never been in her life. He is not listed as her father and never established paternity. Does he have to give permission for my parents to get guardianship?

Actually, it shouldn't be a long or involved process. Though you should get an attorney as a court filing is required. Possibly a court hearing as well but maybe not.

What the attorney will need to do is draft a custody order for the court. It will cover such details as legal and physical custody issues.

Once he has drafted an acceptable (to you and your parents) he files it with the court. You'll file a stipulation you do not oppose the order, which may eliminate the need for a hearing.

The court will then sign the order and that's it.
