Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

what is legal, and what isn't?

My mother-in-law is going thru a seperation froma man who is cheating (openly), He comes home for a few minutes a night and then leaves for his girlfriends house, only to come home in the morning to grab his lunch for work. She wants to know if she can change the locks, I told her she can't, but what can she do. Is it wrong for me to confront him about what he is doing to his family??

Re: what is legal, and what isn't?

Whether she can changes the locks depends on the title to the property assuming she owns it. If it was bought while they were married or the property is in both their names she can't change the locks just yet.

Likewise if both of their names appear on the lease.

Assuming the couple in question are married. If She files for divorce she could ask the court to allow her exclusive possession if either of the above are true. If the courts grant her request she could change the locks.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
