Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Liability for child support beyond age 18 furthering their education

My Mother said that even though I'm 18 and child support is suppossed to be discontinued after that age, my father, by law, is still suppossed to pay child support. My father lives in Tennessee and I live in Pennsylvania with my mom and will be attending a college in Pennsylvania. What is the law?

Under PA law, the child support obligation ends when a child turns 18 and has graduated from high school. An exception would be if there was a contractual obligation such as in a property settlement agreement. If you would like to discuss this with me further, please contact me at (610) 892-7777.

Your father's support obligation continues until you graduate from high school.
