marriage and financials

I am about to get married but I have a foreclosure on my credit history. My fiancee wants to get married but wants to protect herself from the financial ramifications. How do we accomplish this? We are getting married in montgomery county Pennsylvania

Well it's not really a divorce question. I hope you have a long and happy marriage. The short answer is that she will not be able to completely protect herself; but she should not be denied credit. You will probably have to keep your charge accounts separate and she will likely have to apply for large credit items, like car loans, by herself. They may also obligate you on the loans but the thing itself will be in her name. As time goes by you should be careful to pay your accounts on time. If you don't have any you should try for department store accounts or secured accounts; like that. Once your foreclosure is ten years in the past it should come off your credit report

In the interim you and your wife will probably have to shop around a little for loans. You might have to pay a higher rate, depending. Right now creditors are tightening up. In a few years maybe not.
