Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

I was married in 2005 and have not had contact with my wife since nor do I know how to contact her. I filed for divorce on last tuesday, but I can not serve her. I was told that I could put a notification in the paper for 30 days and then proceed with the next step. I want to know if this is correct or is there something else I need to do?

If you do not know where she is, you will have to petition the court to serve her via publication -- probably in a local paper of general circulation as well as in the local legal journal. If the court grants your petition, it will tell you exactly how you have to do it. Once that's done, the case can proceed. Hope this helps.
