Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Monthly spousal lsupport

I was divorced on December 6, 2007. At that time I accepted $800.00 a month support. After 1 1/2 years I cannot survive on this amount and would like to obtain an increase to $1300.00. I cannot afford an attorney and have no idea how to go about securing this increase on my own.

Re: Monthly spousal lsupport

If you are divorced, then they should be alimony payments (not spousal support) and depending how the order is set up, you may have to file a petition to modify the divorce order to modify the alimony. Some agreements have limitations on how or when or even whether you can modify an alimony order. The court will not usually advice you as to how to file. You have the burden to prove why it should go up. You may need to invest in an attorney to get the increase you may be entitled to.
