Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Mother took off w/ child now wants support
My husband is being sued by his ex for child support. She left him when the child was 6 mos old and moved to Pa. There has been no contact in 12 years. He hasn't known the where abouts of his daughter for ten years. He came home from work one day to find all his belongings on the front porch of their house, doors locked up and her and the baby gone..
My question is what is his rights. How far back will he have to pay arrears etc.Any help will be appreciated. Thank You,--name removed--

Re: Mother took off w/ child now wants support
Although one is generally responsible for support, there are a number of defenses that can be asserted based on the facts specific to a case that can reduce the asserted back support figures. You should have your husband discuss these with his attorney if he hasn't done so already.

Texas law recognizes a duty on the part of the parent to support the child. Arrearages go back to the last day of cohabitation with the child's mother.
