Moving out of state with having joint custody
Hi! Please help guide me in the research of Pa state laws when both parents have shared joint custody and I want to move out of Pa.

Re: Moving out of state with having joint custody
You asked about relocating with joint custody.
It's pretty well settled. A parent wishing to relocate does so at their own convenience and without detriment to the custody arrangement with the other parent.
In other words, you are welcome to move, but it will be your responsibility to gain permission from the other parent if you wish the child to relocate also. You would also be responsible for ensuring that the other parent was able to exercise his/her custodial rights. This could include delivering the child to the other parent.
It's best to work these things out ahead of time as the Court's position is and will remain that the best interests of the child is stability and involvement by both parents. Sometimes this results in the apparent infliction of a choice on a parent.
