Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Non-custodial parent's obligation of transportation
My ex-husband lives about 25 miles from where I live. For the past 3 years he has picked her up on Friday and dropped her off on Sunday afternoons during his weekend of visitation. Recently however, he has begun to tell me that ''it's customary'' for the custodial parent to pick the child up. Is this a PA law? He has flat out refused to bring her home and says that if I don't pick her up he will go for custody and say I abandoned her. So of course I pick her up, he has me backed into a corner. And also, he does not do any other transportation for her.

Re: Non-custodial parent's obligation of transportation
There is no set "law" that sets forth the requirements for transportation. If you have a custody order, he should be abiding by that. If it does not specify who provides it, you may have to seek a modification of the order to do so, if you do not agree to share transportation. With such a distance, it is sometimes suggested that a half way point be agreed upon.
