Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

My mother sent me and my son a registered letter stating that we owe her money. When in fact this is not true. She is threatening us with ltaking it to the legal system. Are there any legalities?

Well let her. She's going to have to prove you owe her money.
She's also going to have to pay the cost to file the suit.
You don't say how much money but if its over $8,000 she will have to file in the Court of Common Pleas. While that won't necessarily require her to have a lawyer it will require some expertise to get the paperwork right.
Does she give you any reason why she thinks you owe her the money?
