Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Parental Rights
My son's father is a drug addict and doesn't want to help with child support at all. Is there a way that I can have him sign over his parental rights in a deal that I don't go after him for child support later in my son's life? Can you please get back to me on this soon. I would really like to know what my options are. I don't really want his habits or him around my son. He is not on the birth certificate too.. Does that matter?

Re: Parental Rights
Absent and adoption you can't terminate his parental rights.
Further you can't agree not to seek child support. Such contracts are void from the get go. Though if you choose not to go after him for support then that's your choice.
You should be aware that even if dad has mo contact for a wile he can always sue you for custody. He might not win but he could get partial custody.
