Hello:
Emancipation is a question of fact that must be determined on a case-by-case basis. Parents have no liability for the support of an emancipated child. Children become adults once they reach 18 years of age, but generally will not be considered emancipated if they are still attending high school. A presumption against emancipation applies to children under the age of 18.
That being said, it is impossible to give a "yes" or "no" answer, and difficult to ascertain the likelihood of a 17 year old being considered emancipated without knowing more about the facts of the case.
