Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Paternity / support
i have had a prior custody hearing in august of 2005, and i signed acknowledgment of paternity papers. after that hearing, the mother had told me that she had cheated on me. now I'm not sure if they are mine. now, i know i need a lawyer in order to get a paternity test since i have already signed the papers. but my questions are... 1) i have heard that if i am not found to be their father, then she has to find the real father before i can stop paying support, (i know who the other possible father would be), is this true, and would i be able to somehow get the other guy to take the test also? 2) is there any way that i can have their mother pay for have of the tests? 3) if i am found to be not the father, will that mean that i no longer have to pay support? 4) if i am found to not be their father, will their mother have to pay me back the money that has already been paid in support? any information on this will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Re: Paternity / support
You asked about paternity issues.
Understand that at all times the issue is that the best interests of the child (or children) is paramount. Generally once paternity is accepted (either when a child is born in wedlock or otherwise) then it may only be disclaimed when true paternity is established in another person.
You really need to engage counsel to pursue your rights. The explanations are much too complicated to discuss in this forum.
