Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Why would a person need an attorney at a Domestic Relations hearing for child support only? My daughter has a child 2 years old. She and the father are not married or in a relationship. He grudgingly pays voluntary support of $200 a month sporadically. She does not work as this is what we arranged while the baby was young. I support them. The father now had another baby on the way from another woman with whom he purchased a home. My daughter fears her son will get the short end of the stick and wants reliable steady child support from him. He hired an attorney. Why is one needed and will she be at a disadvantage now?

A layperson is always at a disadvantage against an attorney, even in situations supposedly as cut and dry as child support. If he only sporadically is paying, she needs to enforce the Order, and she needs to file for child support modification now, before the new child arrives.
My office handles this type of matter frequently and charges a very low flat appearance fee. I do not quote fees on this service, but if you are interested in learning more, feel free to call the office or write back direct to [email protected].
