personal property i can not get

my ex-boyfriend will not let me get my property out of his house. even though i paid half the mortgage. he said he attorney told him that i have to hire a moving company to come in and pack up my belongings and move them out. i am not to step foot in the houe. the entire contents of the house are mine except for his couch, recliner a night stand and a chest of drawers and his tool boxes. how do i get him to let me in to make sure he has not damaged any of my belongings and how long before it is considered abandoned? he has told me not to even bother show up with police. please help?

You should immediately hire that moving company and get your stuff. If you can't afford a mover get some friends and a U-Haul. Bring a camera to record the condition and his behavior. If he refuses to make the arrangements for the movers go to court and sue him for the return of your things. Can you get police to accompany you? If so, do it and take pictures of everything. See if the asst. DA will charge him criminally since he's actually stealing your property. If he has title to the house you must avoid self-help because you could be charged as a trespasser or even a burglar. As long as you are making attempts to recover your things they are not abandoned.
