Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Power of attorney

I live with my aunt and have charge of her finances. She is 91, she misplaced her upper dentures which she hardly ever wears. My cousin came over 1 morning when I was at work and took her out shopping, didn't call anyone, my wife was home and called me. Just last saturday my aunt received a bill for upper dentures $2000.00. She flipped out, I had told my cousin before not to do it. I called the dentist on mon to cacel them. What can I do to stop my cousin from doing things like this? This is not the first time and she won't listen to me.

Re: Power of attorney

You asked about protecting a relative from another relative.

Might be appropriate to get a restraining order. Just in my opinion, but it may be that the cousin either has no life or, more nefariously, is attempting to use the aunt. It could also be that she just cares about her, but, unfortunately, this is rarely the case.

In any event a lawyer can represent you and your aunt and craft a restraining order that would work to effectively limit unpermitted contact with the cousin. Caution, if the cousin is the aunt's child then you will need to demonstrate how the relationship is abusive.

Regards,

Roger
