Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Protection of abuse
I had a PFA against my current fiance a couple of months back. After the PFA was ordered I found out I was pregnant to him. Because of this we started talking again trying to make it work out for our children. After that an inccident happened and I had to call the cops. They charged him with PFA violation becuase they had nothing else to charge him with. I had told them that we were talking again becuase I found out I was pregnant. They told me that I had to drop the PFA but I wasnt aware of that. As soon as they told me that I got the PFA dropped. I was supeanaed to testify in court for the Common Wealth of Pa about this inccident. I was wondering can I get in trouble for talking to him while the PFA was still in effect? Like I said I was not aware that you had to physically drop the PFA and thats why I talked to him.

Re: Protection of abuse
You asked if you had caused a problem by ignoring a PFA (protection from abuse order) you had sought.
First, good for you for getting the PFA in the first place.
Second, it is impossible for you to violate a PFA that you had requested. But your approaching the party caused him to violate the PFA.
Third, go speak with counselors at a womens shelter. I understand your motivation but a leopard does not change his spots. There are plenty of men out there who will appreciate you for you and from whom you, nor your child, will ever need a PFA order.
