Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

purchase of property after seperation from spouse

I am presently seperated from my husband with intentions of dvorcing in the future. I would like to purchase an investment property/ rental unit, would he have legal claim to this property during our divorce and if so what could i do to prevent him from having legal claim to this?

He would have a claim. The strength of the claim depends on facts not in your question. For instance; whether any "marital" assets were used in the purchase is a consideration.

Your best course to prevent such a claim would be to get him to waive it in writing. Even better you could settle the whole matter of your divorce by written agreement. You could do this before a divorce is filed. You could try mediation.
