Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Question about Emancipation.

Hello,

I am a 16 year old in Lackawanna County, PA. My parents are abusive and I want to get away from it, but I don't want to go to a foster home for fear of equal or worse conditions. I know kids in foster homes who say it's actually worse (terrible living conditions, sexual/physical abuse, etc.) That is not anything I would leave home for. However, I am working now and I'm capable of supporting myself.

My parents always complain about me being a burden and whatnot, and have abusive qualities, but they refuse to let me move out.

My father is a convicted felon and has been jailed in a federal prison before on drug charges, and into a state prison for drug charges and domestic abuse.

My parents are not people I wish to be around.

I am an honors student in school and I work very hard at work and in school, so I do plan on continuing my education.

Is there any hope for me to be emancipated?

To qualify for emancipation, you will need to show that you would be able to support yourself. To get the emancipation, you would need to file in court and will need an attorney. Where would you live, how do you plan on paying the bills, do you have anyone that will be able to help you? These are all questions the court would ask.
