Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

question about judge in custody/relocation case

I was wondering if there are any time

constraints on judges for handing

down a decision on a child

custody/relocation case? We had our

hearing almost 3 months ago and

the judge presiding over the case said

she needed a few days to look

everything over before she made a

decision and it has now been almost

3 months and we have heard

nothing. Our lives are completely on

hold and I am having to try to

maintain a life in two places until

this matter is resolved. How long

does the judge have?

Re: question about judge in custody/relocation case

Where the heck is your attorney? Under the rules of civil procedure custody cases have to be handled quickly. General here that means trial must occur with in 2 months following the custody conciliation. Even in my county it can take up to 6 weeks to get a decision especially if the judge feels it necessary to write an opinion, though most don't. Some even draft the order from the bench. So the answer should come soon. No idea if it will.
