Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Question about when a minor can move in with an adult
I'm over the age of 18 and a friend of mine is 17. Her dad repeadly verbally abuses her and is always drunk and high on dope. My question is i moved to the state of PA and i am highly intrested in moving her to PA so i can help her finish school and get her out of the abusive lifestyle that she has been around for 8 years. In texas you can legally move out of your parents household when you are 17, but does that law carry out in other states considering she is or was a texas resident? She doesnt have a job because her dad wont let her so she dont have a way to support herself and i would be happy to support her till she gets out of school and gets on her feet. Is this possible? Thank you for your time.

She could either petition the court to be declared emancipated or if her parents don't care just move out. In PA the parents would have the right to ask the court to declare her incourigible if they chose.
If they are agreeable, you might ask them to sign formal guardinship papers.
