Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

I recently received a sizeable inheritance. My marriage is also on the rocks. I have the inheritance in a separate account in my name only. I need to use a small portion of the inheritance for college costs for my kids, but I want to be careful not to co-mingle with my joint money to protect the inheritance from possible divorce distribution.

If I use, say 5% of the inheritance funds to pay college bills, and pay the college directly from the separate account, is that safe ?

I am just asking?
