You asked how long it would take for jurisdiction to attain in a family law matter after relocating to Pennsylvania.

Generally jursidiction is immediate in matters before the court. Except in family law matters. Here it depends on the circumstances.

Where the issue is custody the matter always reverts to the domicile of the child. It generally takes 6 months to attain new domicile. this prevents forum shopping and promotes the welfare of the child. And in custody matters it is always the welfare of the child that is considered first.

Emergency matters may be dealt with through the local court but any matter that may await a decision before a court with proper jurisdciction will be deferred.
