Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Revising adoption
After I married my wife ask me to adopted her son because there are some things that were going on with his biological father. He agreed to give up his parental rights. I adapted him the same day. Now we are divorce and I want to be release from any obligation to her son and my ex-wife. He is 17, 18 in march, in the 11th grade. Is there any way to undo a adoption?

Re: Revising adoption
You asked about un-adopting a child.
The answer is NO.
I won't discuss the moral aspects of this request, as I will assume that it would have no effect.
This generally can't be done. When a child is adopted the legal relationship of the biological parent is permanently severed. The new relationship of the adoptive parties is that of parent and child.
The child could seek emancipation on his own, but that is a rare circumstance not appropiate here. Or there could be another adoptive parent (even the biological father would have to become an adoptive parent if he sought to undo the previous adoption).
Nope, you're on the hook for child support and likely also for supporting the child through college. By the way, the calculus used to determine support through college is that the non-custodial parent is responsible for 50% of costs, and the custodial parent gets the benefit of any scholarships, benefits or reductions where the student takes on the debt himself.
Man up. Adoption is a more solemn undertaking than marriage.
