Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

My sister is married to one man and is in the process of divorcing him, and is pregnant with another man's child, a man she is no longer seeing. She was considering putting "unknown" for the father's name on the birth certificate, since he will most likely not be a part of the child's life and she is not interested in pursuing physical or monetary support from this man. She has not asked him to sever his parental rights to the child. Can she do this? What benefit is it to her in not naming the father on the birth certificate? Are there any cons to it? Thank you.

Whether or not the father's name is on the birth certificate has no effect on his rights as a father or her rights as the mother. Furthermore, she will not be able to terminate his parental rights unless it is done as part of an adoption, ie: step-parent adoption.
