Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

My son is now 14. Me and his father are not together and for the past ten years he's been paying me $200 a month in child support (not court ordered). We have 50-50 custody, however, for the past three yeas my son has been with me since his father has been going to night school to get his degree. He refuses to pay any more and I am having a hard time getting anything extra from him for my sons needs. He makes $1500 more than I do a month. We are going back to court. What are my changes of getting at least a little more than $200

You do not tell me the amount of your combined monthly income or exactly how much time your son spends with you and the father. The issue is not your need, but what the correct amount is under the guidelines and whether there are any grounds to warrant deviation from that.

The Pennsylvania Support guidelines are available online, free of charge at http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/231/chapter1910/chap1910toc.html

You want to concentrate on Rules 1910.16 - 1910.17. There are also several online calculators - here is one from the PA department of human services:

https://www.humanservices.state.pa.us/csws/CSWS_controller.aspx?SelectionIdBottom=7&PageId=CSWS/support_estimator_overview.ascx.

This should help you determine approximately what the father can be expected to pay.
