Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

My son and his past girl friend have a child and share joint custody, which is not court ordered. She has decided to home school the boy and did not ask or get permission from my son. The woman is not an organized person and is known for sleeping through the day while the boy sits alone in the house. She taught him how to make hot dogs inthe microwave and he made three one day and ate them and got sick. Another time he opened the door and went out to go the aunt's house through the next yard. There is much concern that she will not follow throught with the home schooling in the right manner. The child could go to school where the father lives and I would be there to put him on and off the bus. The boy does not like spending time with his mother because as he says "She sleeps all day." Does my son have any options and what would they be? Thank you

Yes, get a custody order in place. If the child is old enough to need schooling there should be a custody order in place.
